The Detroit Red Wings welcome the Ottawa Senators to Joe Louis Arena tonight. Both teams come into tonight’s game winners of two straight games.

For the first time since December, the Detroit Red Wings have started to look good at the Joe. The Red Wings shutout the Florida Panthers on Wednesday, 3-0.

Petr Mrazek got his second shutout in five games against the Panthers and is getting the start tonight against the Senators. Mrazek has shown he his head and shoulders above Jimmy Howard right now.

Craig Anderson is the expected starter for the Senators tonight. The Senators acquired Dion Phaneuf yesterday from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a blockbuster trade.

Dion Phaneuf is expected to be in the lineup for the Senators tonight. If you remember, the Red Wings were reportedly close to acquiring Phaneuf last season but wouldn’t part with Anthony Mantha.

The Red Wings have won two of the three meetings against the Senators so far this season.

Even though the Florida Panthers beat the Buffalo Sabres last night, to go back up eight points in the Atlantic Division, if the Red Wings can stay hot that will bode well for them catching the Panthers.
