The Detroit Red Wings continue their four game road trip tonight against the Ottawa Senators, looking to rebound from Thursday’s loss to the Penguins.

The Detroit Red Wings head to Ottawa tonight after a tough loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. Petr Mrazek had his second bad game in a row, he was pulled in the third after giving up the fifth goal. The Red Wings ended up losing 6-3.

I still don’t have a lot of concern over Mrazek struggling the last two games and I expect him to start tonight, with Jimmy Howard getting the start tomorrow night against the New York Rangers.

The Red Wings defense hasn’t helped either goalie though. With the Trade Deadline a week away the Red Wings really need to shop for a veteran defensemen. Maybe Kevin Shattenkirk from the St. Louis Blues could be a potential target for the Red Wings.

With Niklas Kronwall and Jonathan Ericsson still out with injuries the Red Wings have to inquire about defensemen that other teams are thinking of moving.

With pieces in Grand Rapids the Red Wings have more then enough to acquire a talented defenseman to help them during the stretch run.

The Ottawa Senators come into tonight’s game winners of two straight while the Red Wings are coming in losers of two straight. The last two games the Red Wings have played weren’t very good as they gave up four goals on Monday and six on Thursday.

Going back to Sunday the Red Wings gave up six goals. The defense and goaltending have to be a lot better tonight if the Red Wings intend to end this losing skid.

Needless to say the Red Wings, need to have a much better effort tonight especially from their defense. I made a prediction in my last pregame article that Petr Mrazek was going to be angry and that didn’t work out well.

Next: The Detroit Lions Curious Center Decisions

I’ll try it again though. Mrazek will have a great game tonight and the Red Wings win 2-0. Petr Mrazek is a much better goalie then he’s shown the last two games and I think he will return to form tonight.
