NFL Mock Draft 2016: Detroit Lions Fill Need in Middle of Defense

The Detroit Lions’ pick is all over the map in various 2016 NFL Mock drafts. We now present the first 2016 NFL mock draft on Detroit Jock City.

It goes without saying but what the Detroit Lions do in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft will be dependent on what happens in the 15 picks that come before them.

An offensive tackle if often discussed as a possible pick but that becomes less likely if there is a run on tackles in the top 15.

Perhaps you fancy middle linebacker Reggie Ragland. That can only happen if Ragland isn’t drafted by one of the other teams in need of an inside linebacker before the Lions get their chance.

A pass rusher? A wide receiver? That all depends on the need-value mix in the context of what else is available.

We’ll watch it all unfold in a couple months but the only way to play it out now is to go through the exercise of a mock draft. Ultimately that’s all a mock draft is: playing out a scenario.
