The Detroit Red Wings return to action today looking for revenge against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Red Wings lost to the Blackhawks 5-2 on Wednesday.

The Detroit Red Wings, after winning three straight games, had a setback on Wednesday as they lost 5-2 to the Blackhawks. Petr Mrazek looked shaky all game long and he hasn’t played very well in his last couple starts.

Dylan Larkin is another Red Wings that has hit a rough patch as he has gone a season high five games without a point. The Red Wings really need those two to regain the form that they had since the beginning of the season.

The Chicago Blackhawks also haven’t played a game in a while. They last played on Thursday against the Boston Bruins, which the Bruins won.

Both teams look like locks to make the playoffs this year, but it would help both teams, to either win their respective divisions or get the second spot in the division so they can have home ice in the first round.

The Red Wings haven’t had home ice in the playoffs in years and the Blackhawks are in a three way battle right now for the Central Division crown.

Long story short, this game is important for both teams. Although the Red Wings, considering the loss on Wednesday, need this game more then the Blackhawks do.

Today’s game also begins a tough stretch for the Red Wings as they play eight games in 14 days. The good news being is five out of those eight games the Red Wings face teams who would miss the playoffs as of this writing.
