The Detroit Red Wings face the Philadelphia Flyers tonight in the last regular season game of the year at Joe Louis Arena.

The Detroit Red Wings face a very crucial two games this week. Tonight against Philly and tomorrow night at Boston. The Red Wings are currently third in the Atlantic and could even pass the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tonight, kicks off a important two games for the Red Wings. If the Red Wings can win both games in regulation than the game at the New York Rangers on Saturday doesn’t look as big.

The Flyers come into tonight looking to sweep the Red Wings in the season series. The Flyers are led by Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds.

Claude Giroux has been clutch this season as he has five game winners. The Red Wings on the other hand have had a hard time getting those clutch goals lately.

Jimmy Howard most likely will be the starter tonight for the Red Wings and maybe for the rest of the season. Petr Mrazek, while I believe he’s injured, just hasn’t played well in over a month. Howard, on the other hand, has played very well and deserves the job.

Something to wonder about tonight, is this the last home game for Pavel Datsyuk? Elliotte Friedman said on Saturday that his sources said Pavel Datsyuk could finish his career in Russia. I personally think Datsyuk comes back but we’ll talk more about that at the end of the year.

Here is the information for tonight’s game:

. 68. Final. . 72

The Red Wings need to get three out of four points in these two games in my opinion. A win tonight in regulation clinches the tiebreaker over the Flyers. A win tonight and tomorrow in regulation most likely clinches a playoff spot.

Buckle up Red Wings fans, it’s going to be a fun but nerve racking week.
