The Toronto Blue Jays led major league baseball last season in runs scored, beating the next closest team (Yankees) by 127 runs. This season, their roster is virtually the same but they haven’t been able to generate anything close to that type of offensive prowess. They did however score 21 runs in their final two games this past weekend showing us that the power is still there.

They are one of the teams on the rise this week as they try to catch up with two other offensive powerhouse teams in the Orioles and Red Sox. The Texas Rangers are another team that is on the rise, quietly pulling away from the Mariners in the AL West.

The Detroit Tigers have got a pretty bad habit of following up really good weeks by falling apart and losing 4 or 5 games the following week. This week they finally bucked that trend and continued their solid play by taking 2 out of 3 against both the aforementioned Blue Jays and the Yankees.

Michael Fulmer continues to be one of the most pleasant surprises of this young Tiger season by dominating Yankee bats yesterday earning his 7th win of the season and extending his scoreless innings streak to 28 1/3.

Let’s take a look at the rankings.
