Detroit Lions news takes a look at the latest Color Rush uniform rumor that says the uniforms will be silver. That and more news from around the web.

Rumors of what the Detroit Lions will be wearing for their Color Rush alternate uniforms for this season have been swirling for months. Eric Ebron gave fans a little tease without giving away much in the way of details and other supposed “leaks” have not turned out to be factual.

Now there is a fresh batch of rumors and while they come with the same words of caution as any other, they look plausible.

Reddit user “notnike” has recently taken to all the team subreddits with details about each team’s Color Rush uniforms and dropped the following info for the Lions:

"Primary Color: SilverStyle: RetroLogo: unchanged"

I’m hoping this turns out to be true as I’ve been a fan of the Seattle Seahawks’ all-gray alternate, thought it will be interesting to see if Nike plays up the Lions’ silver as overly shiny or goes with a more muted look. Mark me down on the side of the more muted silver, though “muted” and Nike rarely belong in the same sentence.

The fact the style is marked as retro says to me that the focus will be on the color more than the design. Something more simple pays homage to the Lions’ occasional tradition of wearing throwbacks on Thanksgiving Day.

Beyond the uni details, “notnike” says that the NFL will use Thursday’s regular season kickoff between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos to tease the 2016 Color Rush uniforms with a full unveil coming next Tuesday. That makes a lot of sense given the NFL’s penchant for milking every possible publicity opportunity.

True or false, we can be certain that something official is just around the corner given that Rod Wood has mentioned a league-wide unveil and that the first Color Rush game is a week from Thursday.
