The Detroit Red Wings limp home tonight after losing all three games on their road trip. The Red Wings have lost four straight games.

The Detroit Red Wings return home tonight to face the St. Louis Blues. Tonight is the first game at Joe Louis Arena since Mr. Ilitch died on Friday.

The Red Wings lost both games last weekend including a 6-3 loss against the Wild. The Red Wings all of a sudden are nine points out of a playoff spot and their playoff hopes are nearly extinguished.

For the second time in three games, the Red Wings were let down by their goaltending and defense. Every time the Red Wings got close against the Wild, the Wild would score and extend the lead. The Red Wings have given up six goals in two of their last three games.

Once again the Red Wings special teams hurt them. The Wild scored three power play goals and the Red Wings did not convert on their only power play.

With the Red Wings playoff hopes hanging on by a thread, it seems like the Red Wings are going to sell at the deadline. The only question is when will they start selling. With four games left before their bye week it will be interesting to see how long they wait until they make a move.

Petr Mrazek is getting the start tonight and he played well against the Blue Jackets but like Jared Coreau, he’s been very inconsistent.

Thomas Vanek may return tonight for the Red Wings after missing Sunday’s game. Also Gustav Nyquist most likely will be suspended for a while after his unacceptable slash on Sunday to Jared Spurgeon. So, the Red Wings will have to rely on their goaltending and defense for the next few games and well that doesn’t bode well for this team.
