Reggie Jackson has been the player most widely mentioned in Detroit Pistons trade rumors but Andre Drummond could be available as well.

Point guard Reggie Jackson has been the player most prominently mentioned in Detroit Pistons trade rumors but second on that list is center Andre Drummond. There hasn’t been a lot of chatter about Drummond potentially being on the move, but that might start heating up as Thursday’s trade deadline approaches.

In the lead up to the big DeMarcus Cousins trade between the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans came reports that the Pistons had engaged in discussions with the Kings about a Drummmond-Cousins swap earlier in the season.

It’s interesting wording from Stein. “Will NOT discourage” doesn’t make it sound like the Pistons are actively trying to unload Drummond and the max contract he signed over the summer. However, if there is a team out there that likes him enough to make an enticing offer, the Pistons will listen.

Stan Van Gundy has mentioned that discussions between happen all the time and rarely does anything come of it. Van Gundy has also explained that any player throughout the league could be traded for a big enough offer. For example if the Golden State Warriors were to offer up Steph Curry and Draymond Green for Drummond (they wouldn’t) of course the Pistons would do the deal.

Trading Drummond would be quite a turnaround after making a big commitment to him in the offseason. A deal seems unlikely considering the value the Pistons would have to get in return. The team has disappointed this season by failing to take a step forward from what they did last season, but this isn’t a team in tear down mode.
