Detroit Lions news takes a look at another rumor regarding the updated uniform, which was refuted by the team’s twitter account.

Three weeks from Thursday, the Detroit Lions will unveil new uniforms. The April 13 date was announced by the team last month when they debuted an updated logo and wordmark, but they didn’t reveal anything more than that the unveil would include four uniforms.

That makes for perfect conditions to fire up the rumor mill. Typically rumors fly around regarding things like this and little is made of it from official channels. What makes the latest rumor interesting is that the Lions official twitter account responded with what can only be interpreted as a flat denial that the rumor is based in reality.

Here is the initial tweet with the Lions’ response.

The rumor didn’t seem one to put much stock in to begin with, but the Lions stepping in with their twitter account (via Dwight K. Schrute) should keep this one from gaining any traction.

I don’t have a good feel for how beloved the leaping lion log is (or is not), but I don’t feel that replacing it on the helmet with a letter D would be viewed positively. Regardless, the Lions have squashed this one so it really doesn’t warrant any more discussion.
