During his press conference at the 2017 NFL Combine, Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn expressed confidence in the team’s current group of running backs. Of course, he also said DeAndre Levy figured into the team’s plans.

Shortly after that, Levy was released, drawing into question just how forthright Quinn really had been when discussing his roster plans. Is he really satisfied with a group of Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick, Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington? By the end of last season, Abdullah and Riddick were out with injury, Zenner was starting and Washington had played his way out of meaningful carries.

Outside observers don’t seem to be putting too much stock in Quinn’s stated contentment, as no one would be shocked to see the Lions draft a running back at some point in the 2017 NFL Draft to improve depth and overall talent of the group.

As a variation on a seven-round mock draft, here is a look at a running back prospect the Lions could consider in each round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Let’s get started.
