This series has been as advertised.  An epic series between two of the best teams in baseball. The ALCS will continue tonight from Boston as the Detroit Tigers will try to even the series 3-3.

After Game 5 there was plenty to blame to go around in Detroit.  Whether it’s Prince Fielder’s for his poor performance in the series or Jim Leyland’s for his refusal to move him down in the line-up fans are looking for someone to direct their frustration at.

The Tigers will attempt to calm fans frustrations by sending Max Scherzer to the mound to face Clay Buchholz. Max Scherzer pitched brilliantly in-game 2 pitching 5 hitless innings and was certainly good enough to win.  But in the 9th inning Joaquin Benoit grooved a pitch to Boston’s David Ortiz that resulted in a game tieing grand slam and eventually a 5-4 loss. Scherzer will try to further cement his reputation as a big game pitcher by shutting down the Red Sox to tonight and  getting the Tigers into Game 7 on Sunday.

On the other side, Clay Buchholz will try to redeem his Game 2 performance at home where he is 6-1 with a 1.99 ERA. After getting knocked around in Game 2, Buchholz has been leaning on teammates like John Lackey for playoff advise.

"“It’s easy to learn from somebody that’s been through and experienced it in the past,” said Buchholz. “Just the way he worked the counts and was able to get his curveball in for a strike on a consistent basis. I didn’t throw too many curveballs last time out. If you have a feel for that pitch, I think that’s a good pitch for the group that’s as aggressive as the Tigers are. There are multiple things I can do differently, and I definitely want it to go a little bit better.”– See more at: http://bostonherald.com/sports/red_sox_mlb/boston_red_sox/2013/10/time_for_clay_buchholz_to_prove_ace_status#sthash.vvC9mgfn.dpuf"
