It is Detroit Red Wings Wednesday on the DJC Morning Drive just as our heroes are wrapping up development camp in Traverse City.

It is an important development camp this year because Ken Holland is looking for his young players to fill the voids left by an unsuccessful free agency period. Development camp also offers a chance for the young players to build chemistry before the grind of pre-season training camps begin.

More from Detroit Red Wings

Just because the Wings failed in free agency does not mean they are giving up on landing a top defenseman.  Trade rumors continue to swirl around Tyler Meyers and Mike Green.  But acquiring these players won’t be easy, as the Wings will probably have to give up one of their young prospects to get the deal done.

All this and more on Detroit Red Wings Wednesday.

From The Freep: Video: Campers Bond Over Curling

"As the Detroit Red Wings development camp concludes today in Traverse City, the young players have been bonding (where else?) on the ice. But this time, this has nothing to do with hockey."

From Sabre Noise: Detroit Red Wings Show Interest In Tyler Myers

"Tyler Myers has become a bit of a conundrum for the Buffalo Sabres as of late. He burst onto the NHL scene with a fantastic rookie campaign good enough to capture the Calder Trophy, but since the gentle giant has been anything but the Tyler Myers who captured the Calder and the hearts of many Sabres fans."

From The Detroit Sports Site: Trade Rumors Micheal Del Zotto

"Over time, the Detroit Red Wings have been known as a team where unwanted players can go to get reborn. Recently, the likes of Dallas Drake, Dan Cleary, Darren McCarty and Brad Stuart have come out of the woodwork and put past issues behind them to plat a major role on successful editions of the team."

From MLive: Alexei Marchenko Resumes Skating

"Marchenko is one of the Detroit Red Wings’ top prospects, already establishing himself within the organization and playing in the NHL last season. But he’s barely a week removed from having screws removed from his ankle after undergoing offseason surgery."
