First Round

Aside from Ziggy Ansah the Lions are about as thin at defensive end as any other position on the team. They addressed that in part this week with the addition of Wallace Gilberry and Devin Taylor took a step forward in his development last season.

Still, another young, promising pass rusher would slot in nicely and Shaq Lawson would be a fitting target in the middle of the first round.

There are some other teams in need of pass rush help that figure to also give Lawson a strong look so there is no guarantee he will be available when the Lions get on the clock with the 16th pick.

Lawson lacks ideal size but he’s powerfully built to be effective against the run and pass. He sprained his MCL in Clemson’s semifinal win over Oklahoma and it limited him in the National Championship against Alabama but there don’t appear to be any ongoing concerns with his knee.
