As we prepare to enter the final week of June, and as teams approach the true 81-game halfway point of the season, focused attention is beginning to turn to the 2016 MLB All-Star Game.

Though a fan vote will ultimately select the starting position players based on individuals’ personal mix of statistical performance, hometown loyalty, and name recognition, I’ll make my picks based on 2016 performance.

The 2016 MLB All-Star Game will be played in San Diego’s Petco Park, a National League Stadium, but the game will be played with a designated hitter, as all All-Star Games have regardless of park since 2010.

So, who makes the cut?
