The NFL is known as a league of parity and that is certainly on display through two weeks of the 2016 season. Will week three begin to bring clarity?

A week after 11 of 16 games were decided by a touchdown or less, the 2016 NFL season continues to look as close as ever. How’s this for symmetry? There are eight teams at 2-0, 16 teams at 1-1 and eight teams at 0-2. In a league of parity, parity reigns early on.

Just look no further than the 1-1 Los Angeles Rams. In week one they looked like the worst team in the league in getting shut out by the less-than-powerhouse San Francisco 49ers. Of course they then go on to beat the Seattle Seahawks in week two. Go figure.

It’s things like this that makes early-season power rankings so difficult. We just don’t know. NFL Power Rankings are about as useful as mock drafts. They’re fun and a way to distribute opinions, but there isn’t much point arguing over them.

Detroit Lions fans should have gotten a dose of that last week after there was some consternation when some power rankings had the Lions behind the Indianapolis Colts despite the Lions’ week one road win in Indy. That all ended up being a lot of hot air after a home loss to the Tennessee Titans. No team losing at home to the Titans deserves talk of being underrated.

Will week three bring any clarity to make ranking easier next week? If the first two weeks taught us anything, we shouldn’t expect so. Here are the Detroit Jock City NFL Power Rankings heading into week three.
