With three wins in a row, the Detroit Lions are once again on the rise in the week 7 edition of the Detroit Jock City NFL Power Rankings.

What a difference three weeks makes. Detroit Lions topics have suddenly shifted from who might take over if Jim Caldwell is fired during the season to games with playoff implications.

Any playoff talk is exceedingly premature considering it isn’t even Halloweeen yet and the Lions already have a three-game losing streak to their name. Following it with three wins in a row is nice, but the second-half of the schedule looks to be more difficult than the first.

If the Lions can go at least 2-1 in the next three weeks with games against the Washington Redskins, at the Houston Texans and at the Minnesota Vikings, they’ll be making a big move in the power rankings and playoff talk can start.

Until that happens, the Lions have done nothing more then get themselves back in the muddled middle of the NFL. The offense is producing but the defense can’t be taken seriously as part of a playoff contender.

By the way, does anyone else find some irony in the Lions getting back to the .500 mark by beating a Jeff Fisher-coached team? On with this week’s Detroit Jock City NFL Power Rankings.
