Reggie Jackson has been the at the center of a couple Detroit Pistons trade rumors this season, but the latest doesn’t look likely per a report tonight.

Just a few weeks after coming up in trade rumors involving the Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson was linked to the Orlando Magic. That was just last week, but that rumor appears to be cooling down already.

According to USA Today’s Jeff Zillgitt, Magic management really like Jackson but a deal is unlikely. He tweeted the following on Monday night.

While Jackson has taken a lot of heat for the Pistons failing to take a big step forward this season, the rumored trade to the Magic amounted to little more than a dumping of his salary.

The initial report from ESPN’s Marc Stein named forward Jeff Green and point guard D.J. Augustin as the potential return pieces. Green is in the last year of his deal so the Pistons would be getting little more than financial relief and another backup point guard type in return for Jackson.

That would have been giving Jackson away, which the Pistons will not do according to Zillgitt’s report. Doing so could prove shortsighted if Jackson can get his knees fully healthy and the Pistons return to more of a pick and roll offense they had some success with last season.

Whether he ultimately gets moved or not will come to a conclusion no later than this week. The NBA Trade Deadline is set for Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.
