7th Round, 245th Overall: Brandon Hepburn, LB, Florida A&M —

Sept 8, 2012; Norman OK, USA; Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Sterling Shepard (3) is tackled mid air by Florida A

Overview:

Hepburn lettered in football and wrestling at North Rockland High School in Thiells, N.Y. In his senior season, according too NFL.com. He recorded 86 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 7 pass breakups and one forced fumble last season for Florida A&M. A year earlier, he had 63 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.

Although not much is known on his overall skill, the Lions saw something to warrant a seventh round selection.

My Thoughts:

Again, late seventh round picks rarely make a football team the following fall. The Lions saw something they liked in this kid and jumped at the opportunity. With depth a concern at linebacker, the Lions add a kid with plus speed who has the opportunity to be a special teams contributor early in his career.

Grade: C
