Overview:

After a season in which the Lions did not feature a change-of-pace running back, it appears they now have two. After signing running back Reggie Bush in free agency, the Lions selected Theo Riddick with the “Tom Brady pick” at the 199th overall pick.

Riddick is a very intriguing prospect. He played in the slot, running back and returned kicks for a Notre Dame team that reached the National Championship game a season ago. Although he didn’t run the forty-time he would’ve liked, his quickness remains his best asset.

With 86 receptions in his first three seasons, Riddick made the transition to running back before his senior year.Last year, Riddick had 90 carries for 917 yards and five touchdowns, while catching 36 passes for 370 yards and two touchdowns.

My Thoughts:

This was another great pickup by the Lions. Riddick can immediately replace former Lion Stefon Logan in the returning game, and play in a diverse role on offense. He can play in the slot, at running back and even run some wildcat if the Lions choose. His versatility make it a great pickup this late in the draft.
