Maurice Cheeks To Be Offered Head Coach via MLive

"Maurice Cheeks will be offered an opportunity to lead the Detroit Pistons out of a half-decade’s malaise. The Pistons have settled on Cheeks as their top choice to become the franchise’s 33rd head coach, according to sources, after he interviewed extensively with both owner Tom Gores and president of basketball operations Joe Dumars."

Lions/Stafford Postpone Contract Talks via MLive

"The Detroit Lions have been very public about the team’s desire to sign quarterback Matthew Stafford to a long-term extension this offseason. But as the months pass without a deal, team president Tom Lewand said the Lions will eventually suspend talks so they’re not a distraction."

Wings Buyout Bertuzzi via Octopus Thrower

"Normally a player with only one year left on his deal is not worth using a compliance buyout out on, but moving into next season it could make sense for the Red Wings. The Red Wings have about $11.5 million dollars in cap space next season and buying out Todd Bertuzzi‘s contract can help the Wings create more space to add two top talents to the roster."

2014 MSU Recruiting Class via Lansing State Journal

"Yet there’s a chance the 2014-15 Spartans could open their season with a roster that’s loaded and expectations that are lofty. The 2014 class could be that big for MSU. It’s the most important class in a while. If the Spartans’ best-case scenario (unlikely but not impossible) plays out, it could be Izzo’s best class. If the worst-case scenario plays out, MSU will miss out for a second straight year on primary, long-pursued prospects from Chicago and won’t be a contender for anything significant in 2014-15."
