2013 NBA Mock Draft: 1st Round
By Tony Fischer
#16 Boston Celtics – Shabazz Muhammad – Small Forward – UCLA
A very talented shooter, the Detroit Pistons are also looking seriously at him at #8. And they will take him too if the guards they like are gone. but if this mock draft holds true the Celtics will have a player with elite scoring potential to begin their rebuilding effort.
#17 Atlanta Hawks – Giannis Antetokounmpo – Small Forward – Greece
Also rumored to go to the Thunder or Celtics the Atlanta Hawks are in total rebuild mode so selecting talent from Europe to stockpile for future seasons fit into the plan. He is only 18 and has huge upside potential at 6′ 9″ he is still growing. In fact he grew 3 inches last year. He is an athletic raw talent.
#18 Altanta Hawks via Houston Rockets – Rudy Gobert – Power Forward – France
The Hawks go overseas again to pick up this intriguing Frenchmen. He is 7′ 2″ and big wing span. Moves well for a big man. Again the Hawks can let this guy develop overseas but given his age he will be ready before Antetokounmpo.
#19 Cleveland Cavaliers via Los Angeles Lakers – Tony Snell – Point Guard – New Mexico
Snell has been gaining steam in the last week or so. The Cavs have already addressed the front court for getting an athletic point guard with NBA length seems like a good fit here.
#20 Chicago Bulls Tony Mitchell – Small Forward – North Texas
The Bulls have Mitchell high on their board. Mitchell averages 3 blocks a game and has the athleticism to guard any position on the floor.
