OUTFIELD
Austin Jackson B
Another solid season was brewing for Austin Jackson. But another stint on the DL has some concerned about his durability. A-Jax was supposed to become more of a stolen base threat this season but hamstring troubles have slowed further development of base swiping ability.
Torii Hunter A
Torii Hunter was the biggest free agent signing for the Tigers this offseason and it has paid off. Hunter has provided dependable #2 bat in the Tigers order and is a big reason Cabrera has 95 RBI at the All-Star break. He has flashed the leather during the first half as well and although not quite gold glove caliber anymore, he can still play great defense.
Andy Dirks D
Dirks is being given every chance by Jim Leyland to get the bat going but he has been a streaky hitter at best. The Tigers need a power left-handed bat in the line-up and they were depending on Andy Dirks to fill that role this season. Dirks has been forced to share some of his playing time with Matt Tuiasopo because of his inconsistent performance. Look for that trend to continue if Dirks can’t get it going.
