First off, there is one thing to note about the depth chart- there is no freshman listed. As the summer rolls on, I expect that to change especially at the running back position.

Andrew Maxwell is listed as the starter, no surprise there, with Connor Cook the second string guy.

The biggest surprise to me and the rest of the media that covers Michigan State is at running back. After a good spring, Riley Bullough is listed as the starter with Nick Hill, Jeremy Langford and Nick Tompkins behind. Bullough made the switch from linebacker to running back during spring practice and made an instant impact during the spring game. I still don’t see Bullough being the opening game starter, I think it’ll come down to either true freshman Gerald Holmes or red shirt freshman Nick Tompkins.

There is no surprises at wide receiver. Bennie Fowler, Keith Mumphery and Aaron Burbridge are listed as the starters with Tony Lippett, DeAnthony Arnett, and Macgarrett Kings listed as their back ups.

Tight End shaped out the way I thought it would with Andrew Gleichert and Paul Lang being the top two on the depth chart.

It looks like there will be a battle in camp for the starting left tackle position between Dan France and Donavon Clark. Coach Dantonio has left tackle listed as Dan France OR Donavon Clark.

To no surprise Blake Treadwell will be the starting left guard with Connor Kruse listed as 2nd string.

Travis Jackson is back from his injury that cost him the 2012 season and is listed as the starter at center.

Jack Allen is the starter at left guard and Fou Fonoti, also coming off an injury, is listed as the starter at left tackle.

On the defensive side of the ball, Marcus Rush and Shilique Calhoun are the starters at defensive end with Jamal Lyles and Denzel Drone listed as backups.

The 6th year senior Tyler Hoover is listed as the starter at defensive tackle with sophomore Lawrence Thomas listed as his backup. 5th year senior Micajah Reynolds is the starter at nose tackle with Vanderbilt transfer James Kittredge listed behind Reynolds.

The starters at Mike and Sam linebackers come to no surprise. Max Bullough is the starter at middle linebacker and Denicos Allen is the starter at Sam linebacker. The surprise came at Star linebacker with it being listed as Tawain Jones OR Jarius Jones.

Darqueze Dennard and Trae Waynes are listed as the starting conerbacks with Ezra Robinson and Jermaine Edmonson listed as 2nd string.

Isaiah Lewis is the starter at strong safety with RJ Williamson listed as number 2. Kurtis Drummond is sits atop the chart at free safety with Demetrious Cox behind.

All in all there was a few surprises, but the depth chart played out pretty much like I thought it would.
