This off-season goes as it always goes for Teflon Joe.  He makes a move that infuriates fans and draws the ire of the Detroit media. He then follows up with a move that can be described as both unexpected and genius. Joe Dumars continued to follow that pattern this off-season.  He passed on Trey Burke in the draft and then out of the blue lands Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings.  Those two moves made many Pistons fans forget about the lazy search for a head coach and the schizophrenic strategy on draft night.

The success or failure of the Detroit Pistons franchise will be determined by this off-season.  This is the off-season that people will point to as the one that set the Detroit Pistons up for a championship run in 2015 or doomed them to another decade of mediocrity.  There are so many unknown factors involved it is hard to predict which way it will go.

Will Andre Drummond rise to superstar status?  Will Maurice Cheeks get this eclectic group of talented individuals to gel into a championship team? Can Chauncey Billups become the floor general for another championship team?  These are all the questions that need to be answered before this off-season can be completely evaluated.  One thing is certain, this season will be one of the most exciting or frustrating seasons in franchise history.
