Former University of Michigan guard, Nik Stauskas has been invited to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. for Thursday evenings NBA Draft.
When Stauskas has his name called, it will be a “dream come true” so to speak.
"“I remember the first time I really paid attention to the draft was 2003, the year that LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and all those guys got drafted,” Stauskas said this week. “Definitely coming into this whole process, I was telling my agent Mark (Bartelstein) that was something I really wanted to do, was have a table and walk up on stage and they announce me. So the fact that I got invited there, I’m going to have chance to do that, it’s going to be a great moment for me and my family.”"
Stauskas had directed workouts set up by Bartelstein prior to arriving in New York for various pre-draft, NBA events on Tuesday. Three of those workouts were on the road, Celtics (who have the No. 6 pick), Lakers (No. 7) and Hornets (No. 9) and three more at Priority Sports Chicago base with the Nuggets, Warriors, Bulls, Kings and Timberwolves watching.

In the latest batch of mock drafts, Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress pegs Stauskas No. 9 to Charlotte — the first true two-guard off the board. ESPN.com’s Chad Ford has Stauskas landing with the Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 13 — saying he believes that is Stauskas’ “floor” in terms of overall value.
ESPN.com Scouting Report:
Stauskas is a well-built swingman who can really shoot the basketball. He has good size for the two-guard and has gotten noticeably stronger within the last year. He is a big time shooter who makes shots in bunches and can never be left unchecked anywhere within 25 feet of the bucket.
Stauskas isn’t obsessing over who will take him and with what pick. Instead, he’s just embracing the experience and rolling with it. The only thing Stauskas knows for sure is what will happen after his name is called by commissioner Adam Silver.
"“My mom, since I was 10 years old, the only thing she cares about is getting that first hug and kiss,” he said. “She’s pretty fired up about it.”"
