Detroit Red Wings NHL Draft Results With Video

The Detroit Red Wings completed the NHL Draft on Saturday and 7 new prospects begin their quest to someday wear the winged wheel.

There are a couple of familiar last names for hockey fans in the 2014 Wings draft class but only one of them has a professional hockey pedigree.  Dominic Turgeon is the son for former NHLer Peirre and Axel Holmstrom shares the last name the Red Wing forward but is of not relation.

This is the second year the Red Wings have drafted a player form a famous hockey family.  Last year the Red Wings drafted Tyler Bertuzzi the nephew of former Red Wing Todd Bertuzzi.

The Red Wings also focused heavily on the offense by drafting 6 forwards. That said, many of them are considered two-way players.
