Detroit Lions Top 50: #24-20 with VIDEO
23. Greg Landry, QB, 1968-1978
Greg Landry is a former coach and quarterback for the Detroit Lions. Matter of fact, Landry is the last Lions quarterback to make a Pro Bowl (1971). Lions fans are hoping that current quarterback, Matthew Stafford snaps that streak this season.
He was the first quarterback selected in the first round (11th overall) of the 1968 NFL Draft after a stellar career at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he was selected All-Yankee Conference for two seasons.
After setting a couple of passing records with the Lions, he moved on to play for the Baltimore Colts for three seasons.
Landry was never an elite tier of quarterback, but his longevity, and the looming reality that there has theoretically not been a Lions quarterback as good as Landry in 40 years is reason enough for him to make this list.
