Kicker:

While the Lions drafted Nate Freese in the seventh round, they also have Giorgio Tavecchio on the roster. Freese consistency at Boston College was amazing. Tavecchio was in camp with the Green Bay Packers last summer and almost won the job over Mason Crosby.

Another noteworthy situation worth keeping an eye on is who handles kickoffs for Detroit. Punter Sam Martin had the duty last season and has said he would like to retain the privilege again this year. Nate Freese has also said he would like the job.

The tie-breaker between Freese and Tavecchio? Who ever makes better use of their leg in preseason.

My Early Prediction: While there is addmitedly some guess-work here, I’m going with Freese following the final week of preseason action.
