The Detroit Jock City Morning drive begins on tuesday with the SECOND PLACE Detroit Tigers.  You read that right, the second place Detroit Tigers.  The Kansas City Royals leap frogged the Tigers into first place after beating the Oakland A’s and taking advantage of a horrible Tigers road trip.

But the news gets worse for the Tigers as the await an MRI of Justin Verlander’s sore right shoulder.  Verlander was pulled after one inning of work in Pittsburgh in which he gave up 5 runs.  In his post game comments, JV admitted to feeling some pain in the shoulder during warm-ups.  Not wantng to take any chances the Tigers are sending Verlander in for an evaluation and an MRI.

The humliating loss and apparent injury to Justin Verlander came after an 19 inning marathon on Sunday that exhausted the Tigers bullpen.

So in case you missed it buckle up and try not to drive off the road as the Tuesday edition of the Detroit Jock City Morning Drive brings you all the links you need to read about the Detroit Tigers.

From The Freep: Dave Dombrowski Says Tigers Aren’t Hitting

"“We’re not hitting right now,” Tigers general manager/president Dave Dombrowski said Sunday morning, after giving the updates on Sanchez and Soria. “Going into the last couple days, we were hitting .235 since the All-Star break."

Tip Of The Tower: Blue Jays Survive Wild Weekend Against The Detroit Tigers

"What a bizarre series. It had everything fans of the Toronto Blue Jays have come to expect from their favourite team: wildly inconsistent pitching, offence that takes its time getting things done and defence in the form of Swiss cheese. There were even some new things added to the mix, including a pair of dramatic comeback victories and Marcus Stroman playing the role of pinch-runner."

From the Freep: Detroit Tigers Have Kicked Around A Trade For Another Hitter

"Fox Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal mentioned on his latest Full Count video that the Tigers have “kicked around a trade” for another hitter, now that they’ve fallen into a slump. Of course, at this point in the season, a trade would have to involve the waiver process, which can complicate things quite a bit."
