From MLive: New Renderings Of Red Wings New Arena Released
"The Downtown Development Authority on Tuesday worked through a series of steps toward building a 785,000 square-foot hockey arena for the Detroit Red Wings and a surrounding, 45-block entertainment district. The authority board approved plans for a pair of 30-year bond sales to fund the $450-million, 20,000-seat arena. Public funds through taxes captured by the DDA will pay back $250 million and interest on one set of bonds. Olympia Development of Michigan will pay back $200 million, interest and taxes on the other."
From the Freep: Tomas Jurco Determined To Stay With Red Wings
"Tomas Jurco arrived in Detroit on Monday, holed up at Luke Glendening‘s place, and now has his bags repacked for a training camp adventure. The uber-confident young Slovak winger, who joked he’d put on 3-4 pounds during “a hard summer,” is ready to muscle into the lineup of the Detroit Red Wings for good. He used an audition last year to gain footing, serving as a regular over other, more established NHL teammates, because what Jurco brings is what any coach wants: Size and physicality."
