Other Tidbits

Position Battles:

Who starts at shooting guard? At small forward? At point guard? Is there enough playing time to go around for the 11 guys that claimed significant playing time last season, either with the Pistons or other teams?

Who is the odd man out?

Second-year forward Tony Mitchell could be on the outside looking in as the Pistons have 16 guaranteed contracts on the roster — one over the league allotted total of 15. There will either be a trade or someone has to be waived by Oct. 27.

There is no question that Stan Van Gundy has inherited a tall task when he came to Detroit. The good news for Pistons fans is that if anyone can right the ship, it’s probably Van Gundy. When the Detroit Pistons training camp kicks off on Tuesday, the SVG era in the motor city, officially begins.
