With Zetterberg and Datsyuk out with injury last year Gustav Nyquist became the Detroit Red Wings top goal scorer in 2013-14. Nyquist continued his development and had a breakout season and was a big reason the Wings were able to extend their playoff streak.
Nyquist leads a core of youngsters that have been tagged as the future of the franchise. The Red Wings need him to continue his development so the young guns can take some of the pressure off the teams aging goal scorers.
