2. LaGarrette Blount – RB, New England Patriots

Were sticking right with the Patriots theme as me move on to No. 2 on our top five waiver wire targets list, with running back LaGarrette Blount.

Furthermore, as mentioned above, it’s quite the headache of a situation in the New England backfield. Following the tardiness of week 11 superstar running back, Jonas Gray, Blount finds himself near the top of our list this week.

Against the Detroit Lions NFL ranked No. 1 rush defense, Blount rumbled his way to 78 yards and two scores on just 12 carries.

It’s no secret that Bill Belichick loves the “running back by committee” approach, so things could change week-to-week for the Patriots. However, Blount was hot at the end of last year and is a hard runner to bring down at 250 pounds.

It’s never a good idea to compare year to year trends in the NFL, but if history tells us anything, it’s that both Blount and the Patriots will finish the season strong.
