Detroit Tigers Win 15 Of 18 In May

From April 29th to May 18th the Detroit Tigers won 15 of 18 games.  That stretch included two long winning streaks one for eight games and the other for six.  After the win on May 18th against the Red Sox in Fenway Park the Detroit Tigers record ballooned to 27-12 and extended their lead in the AL Central to 7 games after the 18 game stretch.

It was at this point of the season that the Detroit Tigers offense looked the most dominant.  The Tigers scored 94 runs during those 18 games while averaging just over 5 runs per game.

The team was firing on all cylinders and it looked as if they would run away with the division title.  Of course the Detroit Tigers would go on to win the division for an historic 4th straight season but the race would be much closer than anyone had anticipated.
