Joe Dumars Fired

After over 13 seasons as Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars was relieved of his duties.  In the four seasons prior to his dismissal, the Detroit Pistons were a lottery team after struggling to break the 30 win mark in each of the last four campaigns.  Even with 3 lottery picks on the floor in Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and Kentavouis Caldwell Pope the Pistons could only muster 29 wins during the 2013-14 win season.

But it wasn’t the result of the 2013-14 season that finished Joe Dumars career as Piston but a culmination of draft picks, coaching changes and ill-advised personnel moves that finally caught up with him.

It’s a shame that someone who had accomplished so much as a Detroit Pistons player and executive will be remembered for failures near the end of his tenure as President.  Hopefully fans will come to remember Joe Dumars more as a hall of famer and three-time world champion (2 as player, 1 as GM) and five time conference champion (3 as player 2 as GM) than for the final four years as an executive.
