Detroit Lions: Three Keys To Victory Over The Green Bay Packers
By Tony Fischer

A first round bye and home field advantage is on the line when the Detroit Lions face the Green Bay Packers on the frozen tundra of Lambeau field. If the Lions win they will clinch the division and at least the second seed in the NFC Playoffs. That would guarantee them a first round bye and a home playoff game in the second round of the playoffs.
The Detroit Lions are healthy with all weapons on both sides of the ball available for the NFC North showdown with the Packers. Good thing too because the Detroit Lions haven’t won in Green Bay since 1991 and could use all the help they can get.
Here are three keys to a Detroit Lions victory over the Green Bay Packers
Ball Control
The Detroit Lions are a much different team on the road than they are at home despite having a winning record away from Ford Field so far this season. If the Lions are going to beat the Packers they will have to do so by controlling the line of scrimmage and employing a conservative risk free offensive game plan. The longer they are able to control the ball the longer they will keep Aaron Rodgers and a Packers offense that scores an average of 42 points at home off of the field.
Contain Aaron Rodgers
You can’t stop Aaron Rodgers, you can only hope to contain him. In this case that means preventing him from hitting Reggie Cobb on a deep pass down the field. One of the reason the Green Bay Packers have such a potent offense is their ability to make big plays. If the Detroit Lions defense can prevent the deep pass, they will be able to slow a Packers offense that does not excel at running the ball.
Sack The Quarterback
It will be hard for Aaron Rodgers to complete passes if he is on his back. The Detroit Lions defensive front must get put pressure on Rodgers if they hope to slow him down. If they allow Rodgers time in the pocket he will pick apart the secondary with the help of his talented receivers.
