DEVIN FUNCHESS
Total homer pick that fits quite nicely. Funchess is a 6’5″ 236lbs beast at wide receiver; just the kind of tall receiver the Lions like to target. I believe Funchess is a 1st round talent but several teams ahead of the Lions have much more pressing needs than a receiver. With the Lions picking 23rd, there is a good chance they could come into a best player available situation. Why not bolster the offense and add another weapon if there is nothing else of 1st round value sitting at a position of need.
One thing is for certain about the offseason; nobody knows what’s going to happen. Who really thought the Lions wanted Golden Tate? Who would have thought Ebron would be drafted? Martin Mayhew has put together some decent off-season’s in the last few years. I believe he will do it again.
