9. DRAFTING CALVIN JOHNSON. (2007)

To me this is such a big moment because it sets the stage for what the Lions have become today. The crazy thing is this pick almost didn’t happen. There were rumors before the 2007 NFL Draft that Matt Millen was going to shop the 2nd overall pick. Whether he would trade up to Oakland or trade down for more picks was the big question. Luckily Millen must have come off of whatever cough syrup high he was on at the time and drafted Calvin Johnson. Even though the Lions have only made the playoffs twice in the past 10 years. Calvin gave the fans a reason to come out to Ford Field to see the spectacle that is Megatron.
