Detroit Red Wings lose Jimmy Howard
Jimmy Howard was put on IR by the Red Wings this week. In a game against the Washington Capitals Howard went backwards to block a shot but missed the block attempt and went into the post of the goal awkward. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher and Petr Mrazek replaced Howard.
After test when the team returned to Detroit discovered that Howard had a torn groin. This injury came the same night that Howard found out that he would be the lone representative for the Red Wings at the 2015 NHL All Star game. Howard is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with the injury.
In his absence, the team will rely on 22 year old Mrazek in the net. The team will have the All Star break from January 21st to January 27th. So hopefully the team can stay afloat while Howard is recovering. The Red Wings next game is this Saturday when they take on the Central Division leader Nashville Predators at 7pm.
Detroit Pistons stay hot, 9-2 in last 11 games
The Detroit Pistons have kept on their winning ways since the waiving of Josh Smith. A team that sat at the bottom of the Eastern, well, the NBA cellular before Christmas wasn’t given a chance at making this season mean anything. Then the team made a big move and as mentioned, waived Josh Smith.

The Pistons went on to win 7 straight wins before getting their first loss and nail biter against the hottest team in the NBA Atlanta Hawks, which they only loss by three. They had a hard fought win against the Toronto Raptors this week along with a win over Brooklyn.
However the Pistons did return to Detroit to receive a 105-94 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans that saw the team at times down 20 points. They battled back but were unsuccessful in the end. The Detroit Pistons play tonight against the Indiana Pacers at 7pm. The last time the Pistons play the Pacers was when the team started their 7 game win streak, so here is to hoping they start another one.
Detroit Tigers could be down Miguel Cabrera in Spring Training
You probably are missing baseball at this point in the Winter. Well the Spring is coming and so is Spring Training and then regular season baseball will be the norm again. However the Detroit Tigers could be down a star player at the start of Spring Training play.
Miguel Cabrera had ankle surgery this offseason and could miss the start of Spring Training. Which when you hear that, could worry you, but Cabrera will more than likely be ready for the regular season when the month of April rolls around. If you follow Miggy on Twitter you have been seeing how his surgery has gone, many times in very close up pictures. Mostly this one;
Gracias a Dios mejor,thanks God getting mejor🙏gracias Dios por darme la fuerza para jugar fracturado del pie pic.twitter.com/TQkWQ5wtqq
— Miguel Cabrera (@MiguelCabrera) November 18, 2014
Cabrera has been seen in photos with a walking boot, and in more recent photos he can be seen without a walking boot which can only be a good thing. It seems that Miggy will be spending most of February and March getting himself back to his old way.
Junior Hockey player shows why frustration hurts
Alpena Flyers Hockey was talked about across not only Michigan but also the United States and Canada. The Alpena Flyers is a junior hockey program in Michigan and last Sunday defenseman Mitchell Skiba wasn’t happy when he was awarded a game misconduct for a spear to an opponent on the MC Monarchs.
Nothing super interesting, it wasn’t until Skiba was headed off when admittedly funniness ensued.
So really the only thing learned from this is, keep your head up kid.
