Prediction #5: The Detroit Pistons will enter the postseason as a 7 seed or higher.

Well, here it is. The playoff prediction. Many if not all you were probably expecting this one. But a 7 seed or higher? The reality of the situation though is that the Pistons are a mere 1.5 games away from the 7 seed.

They’re 5 games from the 6 seed Milwaukee Bucks but even that’s not insurmountable with the Pistons’ recent run.

Obviously if the Pistons even want to make the playoffs they’ll have to continue playing well. Which they have ever since waiving Smith.

A 12-3 record over a 15-game stretch is good for any team. Even 2 of their losses have come to the red-hot Atlanta Hawks but they’re still losses nonetheless. Critics can’t even point to the strength of schedule anymore as they’ve beaten bottom feeders and playoff contenders alike.

If the Pistons want to make some noise in the postseason they’ll have that chance through their seeding. A first round matchup against a team like the Toronto Raptors or Chicago Bulls should be an exciting one.

Pistons fans are now expecting playoffs and it’s no surprise either with all the hype surrounding the team. What seed they get though will be up for grabs. But don’t be too surprised if they snag a higher-than-expected seed with their recent stretch of dominance.
