National Signing Day 2015: Michigan State Football Recruiting Commits and Targets
By Tony Fischer
National Signing day is just days away now and colleges all over the country are waiting to take stock of their recruiting efforts. On February 4th, recruits must turn in their signed letters of intent or risk losing their scholarship offers.
The Spartans have put together a solid recruiting class that ranks #22 in the country according to 247 Sports.com. There are a couple of uncommitted players who have scholarship offered pending from the Spartans. Some of them are long shots while a couple are close to signing on the dotted line.

Cassius Peat is a three-star outside linebacker recruit from Arizona. The Spartans are pressing hard to land the 6′-4″, 235 lb backer and have made visits as recently as January 23rd. According to 247 Sports the entire defensive coaching staff paid a visit to the recruit who decomitted from UCLA on December 2nd. Mark Dantonio made an official visit three days earlier on January 20th. Pundits are predicting that Peat, who hails from Tempe Arizona) will stick to his hometown school Arizona State but clearly Michigan State feels they are still in the running.
While he was out west Mark Dantonio visited another Michigan State target. Mufi Hunt is a 6′-6″ 215 lb weak side defensive end from Utah who made an official visit to Michigan State on January 23rd after Dantonios visit on the January 21st. Michigan State is the only midwest team in the running for Hunt who is also weighing offers from BYU, Washington State, Oregon State and California.
Other than the two players mentioned above, the Michigan State Spartans already have 19 hard commitments and have locked down most of their top targets. That said things can change quickly before the February 4th deadline. Here is the current list of commitments and targets just ahead of National Signing Day 2015.

Jayru Campbell is still listed among the Michigan State Spartans targets with an offer on the table. In June, Campbell announced that he was decommitting from Michigan State and re-opening the recruiting process. But that was before a misdemeanor domestic assault charge resulted in a seven month jail sentence putting the Cass Tech quarterback’s football future in further jeopardy.
As it stands right now the Spartans have not offically withdrawn their scholarship offer despite Campbell’s committal. The Spartans have been tight-lipped as to Campbell’s status and with so many loose ends to tie up both legally and academically this story won’t be wrapped up anytime soon.
Here is a list of the other Michigan State Spartan Targets who have yet to commit.
