Michigan State Football Recruiting: Khalid Kareem commits to 2016 Class

It seems the Spartans earned two victories on Sunday, the first defeating instate rival Michigan 76-66 and the second by landing a key recruiting prospect for 2016 who also had eyes on Michigan.
With several offers coming from the likes of the University of Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Ohio State, defensive end Khalid Kareem out of Harrison High School in Farmington Hills became Michigan State football’s second verbal commitment of their 2016 class. He joins four-star receiver, Cameron Chambers out of Sicklerville, N.J.
The 6-foot4, 240 pound Kareem is ranked as the No. 24 defensive end in the nation in his class by 247 Sports
It became official as Kareem entered the Breslin Center during the MSU basketball game, accompanied by the teams’ defensive line coach and Spartan All-American defensive lineman Shilique Calhoun.

According to 247Sports, Kareem committed to Michigan State during his visit to East Lansing this past Sunday.
It was reported that newly appointed Wolverines head coach, Jim Harbaugh met with Kareem in mid-January and offered him a scholarship. For whatever reason, Kareem obviously decided to go another route even though the Wolverines have a head coach with NFL experience.
Coming off consecutive bowl wins and two straight top five finishes, Michigan State has a lot to offer top recruits and have not slowed down on their recruiting process.
The Spartans Elite Day they hosted on Sunday, proved to be valuable so far as Kareem was one of the players in attendance.
Among the others in attendance was receiver Donnie Corley out of MLK High School in Detroit. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound receiver is rated the No. 2 prospect in Michigan and No. 89 in the nation for the class of 2016.
Offensive lineman, Michael Jordan of Plymouth High School, who is ranked No. 4 player in Michigan and No. 232 in the nation according to Rivals.com
Expect a frenzy of recruitng activity in the next couple of days as the Spartas look to nail down their recruting class for 2015 and 2016.
