The Detroit Lions struggled running the ball last season. In fact they were downright awful. The Lions ranked 28th in the NFL in 2014. Reggie Bush and company managed to only gain 1,422 yards while averaging just 3.6 yards per carry.
There are any number of reasons for the Detroit Lions rushing ineptitude. Injuries on the offensive line are a major reason but injuries and poor performance by Reggie Bush should not be overlooked. Bush contributed just 550 total yards and 2 touchdowns in 11 games. Certainly not production worthy of the sizable contract he signed three seasons ago.
Reggie Bush is still under contract for the Lions in 2015 but moves can be made to open up space in the backfield. Whether or not the Lions decided to keep Bush on the roster or not, they need more help in the backfield.
There are a few interesting free agent options available this offseason that could help solve the Lions rushing woes. Lets look at each option and how they may fit with the Detroit Lions.
