Detroit gets:

  • Wilson Chandler

Denver gets:

  • Jonas Jerebko
  • Kyle Singler

The production the Pistons have been getting from the small forward spot for the past couple of years has been average at best.  They Pistons also haven’t had a productive small forward since Tayshaun Prince, and current small forwards Kyle Singler and Caron Butler aren’t starting material.

Obtaining Wilson Chandler from the Nuggets will give the Pistons the productive small forward they’ve been lacking, without paying for an aging player like Joe Johnson.

Chandler (27) who’s been averaging 13.9 PPG, six RPG and 1.5 APG while shooting 42 percent from the field, could elevate the Pistons into claiming one of the last two playoff spots in the conference with his scoring and rebounding ability.

Also Chandler’s contract includes a team option, which would give the Pistons control of Chandler’s destiny for the 2015-16 season.

For this to work however, Detroit will most likely have to give up one of their wing players, and possibly a big man like Jonas Jerebko, to entice the Nuggets to accept the deal.  This may not be enough though, since the Nuggets already have depth in the frontcourt.

Chandler is being heavily pursued by other clubs, most notably playoff contender Portland Trail Blazers, which possibly makes Detroit not that appeasing as an option.

Despite this, adding Chandler will give the complete wing player the Pistons need, and push them into one of the last two playoff spots in the conference.
