Detroit gets:

  • Derrick Williams
  • Eric Moreland or second round pick

Sacramento gets:

  • Jonas Jerebko

This trade is made more for the long haul then for right now.  The Kings have expressed interest in obtaining Jerebko, and swapping Jerebko with any of the other players possible such as big men Carl Landry and Jason Thompson, makes a deal with the Kings useless.

  • However, if the Pistons swapped Jerebko with someone on the Kings roster with upside, such as combo forward Derrick Williams, it would make trading Jerebko away worth it even with Williams contract up after this season.

Williams hasn’t had much success in his four year career so far, only averaging 9.1 PPG, 4.4 RPG and 0.6 SPG.  Still, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft has good upside as a forward who can play both small forward and power forward.

The Kings would probably give the Pistons a second round pick or a throw in player to make the deal more valuable for Detroit.  If Williams develops into a solid player and is convinced to stay in Detroit after this season (if the Pistons don’t offer him a qualifying offer) the Pistons would have a solid player coming off the bench for the future.
