Yeah this is still a thing. I’ll be the first to admit that the Lions have had their fair share of kicking woes in the last two years, and when I first saw the Kickalicious video I got really excited. Then I realized that there were no moving cars or trash cans on the field. We were all rooting for Rugland but at no point in time did I think he was a guy that would be the starting kicker.
Like Kellen Moore, most fans are making this judgement based solely off of pre season performances. I which Rugland slightly nailed 3 field goals from 33, 49 and 50 yards out with minimal pressure. I love watching the trick shot videos but did anybody really think that the Lions would sign some guy off the street and start him over a Pro Bowl kicker? The Lions aren’t the only team to pass on Rugland. The Packers and Jets also said no thank you.
