Ndamukong Suh: 1st round, 2nd overall pick, Nebraska
This really is very easy. Suh is undoubtably a cornerstone for Martin Mayhew. He could put Ndamukong Suh on his resume. This grade won’t shift based upon Suh’s decision as to where he will play next season. He is the best defensive tackle in the league regardless. Will Mayhew pony up the dough and keep his man here? That’s for a whole other article.
Grade: 5 Superstar/Elite
Jahvid Best: 1st round, 30th pick, California

Oh what could have been. I remember being excited about Suh. I think I was a little more excited about Best and having a run game. Best was a risk that any team would have taken. When Best was healthy he was fun to watch and contributed greatly to the Lions 5-0 start of 2011. unfortunately concussions claimed Best’s career and he is no longer in the league.
Grade: 2, Disapoinment
Amari Spievey: 3rd round, 68th pick, Iowa
In the same vein as Delmas, it’s easy to see the upgrade that Quin and Ihedigbo bring. It’s the perfect distinction between a good safety and a bad safety. Spievey had his share of legal troubles and hasn’t played in the NFL in two years.
Grade: 2, Disappointment
Jason Fox, 4th round, 128th pick, Miami
Good old Jason Fox. The hidden offensive lineman that Lions fans waited to see in action for 3 years wound up being somewhat of bust. At least for the Lions. Fox has been productive for the Dolphins in his one year with the team.
Grade: 2, Disappointment
Willie Young, 7th round, 213th pick, North Carolina State
Willie Young is guy that is just now entering his prime. The issue is, it’s with the wrong team. Young began showing flashes of his ability in his last year with the Lions, he also showed plenty of undisciplined play that has followed him to Chicago. A decent player with poor control is what I will remember him for.
Grade: 3, middle of the road pick
Tim Toone: 7th round, 255th pick, Weber State. Grade: 1, Wasted Pick
