Bruce Rondon

Just like Jose Iglesias, Bruce Rondon has been hit by the injury bug over the past season. Rondon had to have Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right elbow, which caused him to miss the entire 2014 season. Rondon was supposed to be one of the Detroit Tigers big setup men in the bullpen before he was hit with the torn ligament injury.

Now this season is Rondon’s season to return and prove that he can be still be a main setup man for the Tigers. However according to an article at the Detroit Free Press, Rondon may have to deal more with the mental aspect of his play rather than how his arm feels.

More from Detroit Jock City

While there isn’t a timetable on when he will return to the Tigers, I put him on this list purely because I think he will be up with the club in April.

Watch him this Spring to see how he controls his pitches. If you can’t catch the games check on his batters hit and walks that would be a good indications if he is controlling his pitches in any form. Watching him more so in games will be interesting as well because you can see if he looks uncomfortable or looks like he isn’t super focused. If anything spring will be the time for Rondon to come back from Tommy John surgery.
