Offensive Line

Donovan Smith – Red Shirt Junior Offensive Tackle – Penn State

Date of pre-draft visit: March 10th

Projected Round: 3rd or 4th

Height 6′ 6″

Weight  338 lbs

Smith is a monster and has the size, strength and quickness to play in the NFL.  The problem with Smith is his technique.  According to a CBS Sports scouting report he lacks some of the hand skills that would make him pro ready.  That is likely the reason for the his mid-round projection.

Smith has a ton of upside but could be a bit of a stretch for the third round.  Because the Detroit Lions traded away their fourth and fifth round selections to the Baltimore Ravens for Haloti Ngata, Smith is likely to be drafted by Detroit barring some unforseen rise in draft stock.

Antwan Everett – Redshirt Senior Offensive Guard – McNeese State

Date of pre-draft visit: March 2nd

Projected Round: 5th or 6th

Height 6′ 2″

Weight 328 lbs

Everett opened up the pre-draft visits for the Detroit Lions. He has decent size to be a NFL guard coupled all-american skills but hasn’t played against elite competition in his career.  Everett is a late round project and if drafted he probably won’t be a factor in 2015.

Unfortunately the Lions need help up front right away this season which would make drafting Everett a potential wasted pick.
